West Africa consist of a wide variety of ecosystem and a high rich resources and farm land. Agriculture is one of top source of livelihood and income in the West African economy. You'd be amazed of the produce gotten from a small cultivated farm land no matter how small the farm might be. Nigeria being my country in the Western African practices Agriculture with great interest. Some of the commonly grown agricultural produce in Nigeria include : Cassava, Palm tree, Rice, Millet, Corn, Yam etc.
Thus this makes Nigeria stands out as having the highest percentage of cultivated land in West Africa.
Earlier today my Father had some few crops to cultivate( Cassava and Maize) so I assisted in the planting process.
Here are some few steps abd photos of how cassava is planted
First you dig the the soil
Secondly you make the cassava stems ready for cultivation by cutting them
Thirdly, you fill the digged holes with 3 stems of cassava each
Fourthly, you ensure there are no weeds to compete with the plans for nutrients, growth and sunshine.
Lastly, after filling the holes with 3stems you cover the hole with sand
We also got to cultivate maize and this is simply done by putting 3-4 seeds into the soil
Thanks for visiting my blog 😊. Hope I was able to teach you something in my little way.
