In order to gain progress and surpass each challenges in life, one must continuously work for it. However, nonstop hustling might lead to extreme tiredness (physically, mentally and in all aspects of health).
Therefore, to lessen the possibilities to get demotivated from too much working, every individuals must realize the essence of taking a short break. Just like what this quotation implies ...

Whenever our minds get wornout, finding for an effective solutions will be extremely more difficult. So, make time to relax regardless of how busy we could be.
One of the Filipino traditions is to held Christmas parties or also known as "YEAR-END PARTY."
Since I stepped up in college, I had never experience this kind of party anymore. When the first semester ends, I am more focused on the fact that I can spend a short vacation rather than attending a party.
As a fourth year college student, we want to experience the fun of having a year-ender celebration. Therefore, the student organization where I belong had pushed to have a party. Also, as a short mean for academic break.
We, the Pest Management Society, did the preparations and decorations by December 20th (Tuesday) from 9:00AM to 7:00PM. Of course, with the President's and Vice President's (me) initiation.
" ... and, here's where our efforts & tiredness led us to. Look at how relaxing it looks!"
We also prepared fun games and raffles by which the attendees (students and faculty) can win. All thanks to the alumni of Crop Protection Department for sponsoring the budget for the gifts and prizes.
On the next day, the most awaited event initiated by PMS had finally arrived.
- " ... Venue is at COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE!"
We, the officers had an early call time by 8:30AM to finalize everything and to conduct a short dry-run regarding the program.
"WELCOME TO CPD - YEAR-END PARTY 2022!"
The program starts around 10:30AM by an invocation led by your's truly.
Then, it was followed by an Opening Remarks and Sharing of Experiences from Class Representatives of each specializations. And of course, one of the main highlights of the event is none other than the GAMES.
We had prepared six games which are played by students and faculties. Since I was assigned in technicals, I hadn't participated on the games.
As the clock ticks to 12:00NN, we took a break from playing games and proceeded to capturing photos in our DIY photo-booth. And, finally! Here comes the lunch.
Regarding to the foods, we had the following:
- "Sweetened lechon manok + gising-gising + mushroomed chicken + chicken macaroni salad + lumpiang shanghai & pork BBQ."
We had a catering for this special day and all of these foods were paid using the solicited money from the alumni. What our fellow students had paid for as their chips which is worth of 100 pesos ($1.81) were so sulit or worth it.
Ten minutes after everyone had their seats while eating their meals, we proceeded to the much anticipated part of every events. Presenting the "RAFFLE DRAW!"
The prizes that we prepared are all essentials such as:
- Grand Prizes: 6-kilograms of powder detergent and cash worth of 500 pesos
- First Price: Garment steamer
- Second Place: AquaFlask
- Consolation Prizes: Aesthetic mugs, Katinko and jag containers
At the very beginning, I ain't expecting to win such prize. Why? Seriously speaking, I don't have any luck in this part. Thus, it's undeniably an "expect the unexpected." Because, I won one of the consolation prizes which is this "jag container and tissue."
Laughters filled the Seminar Room upon handling this prize because no one had expected it. This prize were originally created for those who are residing in dormitories and apartments.
To even spice the event, the faculties initiated a game called as BINGO by which the patterns are based on our university, C-L-S-U and the BLACKOUT.
Similar to my expectations in the Raffle Draw, I also didn't set an expectations in here. But on the second round, I unexpectedly won 50-pesos.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
All our efforts combined with exhaustion and sleep-deprived nights upon the preparations had paid off the very moment that we saw their genuine smiles and laughter. We are so happy that in an ample amount of time, we got to relax and had a breather. 🤎
