"If you're a knucklehead, own it."

I've gotten into the habit of using a quote at the top of most my posts lately. I'm not sure where it came from but it feels right as I'm a huge fan of quotes - just words - but also the collective wisdom of those who have come before us, or experienced more that we have ourselves. You can see one of my own above. I know right? Not a very good example. 😁
Today I hiked for the first time in several days and I completely loved it! The crunch of pebbles and twigs beneath the tread of my boots, the breeze bringing fresh first day of spring scents, birds singing, kangaroos hopping around and the sun on my back, and then front, as it dipped to the horizon during my hike up and down the hill.
It was glorious and just what I needed.
As some of you may know, this place is directly across the road from my home and hiking the many kilometres of tracks is usually a daily activity; I've been a little preoccupied over the last week or so however and have reluctantly neglected my hikes through necessity. Getting back to it was good although at this time of the year I'm rarely alone on my hikes and some caution is required.
Slithery fauna
The change of seasons will take the lush green winter grasses away soon; they'll brown off and go crispy and the green of the gum tree leaves will seem a little more drab olive in the weeks and summer months to come. It also means the deadly Eastern Brown snake will begin to emerge from winter hibernation looking for mates. They can get quite aggressive at this time of year and so walking around over the next 6-8 weeks will require some additional diligence.
Generally these snakes are not an issue, deadly yes, but happy to bugger off and leave humans alone, but going all winter without some hanky-panky with the opposite sex makes them...Well, frustrated!
The Eastern Brown snake grows to 2 metres long [7 feet] and is considered the worlds second most venomous snake behind the Inland Taipan, also found here in Australia, and is responsible for about 60 percent of the snake-bite deaths in Australia. A bite from one of these will leave you about an hour of agony and then the sweet release of death - Without treatment I mean. Interestingly adult humans have been known to collapse within only a couple of minutes from the bite. That's potent venom and why caution is required. It basically means making some noise when walking and not stepping on one of these slithery buggers. If one comes by stay still, very still. It'll (probably) go by.
Anyway, it's not all bad and snakes aside it's a pretty legit spot to hike, find peace and quiet and a central point within. That's why I go there: Physical and emotional wellbeing.
Today, despite signs of the seasons turning I was once again struck by the bright colours that so define this country. Blue, green and yellow...Also red earth but let's leave the red out for the purpose of this post making sense!
The bit that ties into the knucklehead quote above
I walked through a section, shown in the main image, where the small track I was following meandered between the rich greens of the winter grasses and the bright yellow of the Australian Wattle, one of the many varieties. With the blue sky overhead it looked pretty damned awesome and I decided to come up with a name for it...A word for the combination of blue, yellow and green.
I thought about it but not for long, I'm a seasoned new-worderiser after all; you know, a person who makes up words for things because he can, wants to and finds it amusing. So, I thought about it and decided that bluelloween encapsulated the three colours combined quite perfectly. Legit right?
The name isn't set in stone though, so if you'd like to have a shot and come up with the new word for the blue-yellow-green combination go ahead below, your input is welcome.
If this post ☝️ doesn't prove I'm a knucklehead nothing will. 😆
Have a great Wednesday folks, go own it.
