Faith and I rarely argue; There seems little point to it and, whilst we don't always agree on things, we generally find a compromise which averts the need for a pointless and possibly extended argument. There's one thing we get stuck into each other about though...
...The temperature.
She calls my vehicle the refrigerator...Not just mine, but any vehicle I'm driving, and in which I can control the temperature. I always have the air conditioning on or a window down and it drives her insane! It's the same at home...I get hot and she get's cold. It is the number one source of arguments disagreements between us.
We're coming into winter here, and compared to European or northern hemisphere winters, it is very mild. A cold winters day in Adelaide would be about 11°C and the June average is 16°C so not really cold...But...Anyone would think it's minus 11°C by her reaction. Admittedly, it gets down to about 0° to 2° at night, so cold enough I guess but during the day it's mild.
The thing is that when it drops below 20° she's breaking out blankets, beanies and scarfs...It's ridiculous! She'll sit on the couch with ugg boots on and a blanket and I'll be there in shorts and a t-shirt. I do not lie.
It happened today; A temperature disagreement discussion.
We had come back from a five hour hiking session and she went around closing up the house as if a blizzard was on the way. I felt brave enough to make a comment about letting in some fresh air...But was largely ignored...Once she had gone about the close-up and went on her way doing other stuff I reopened a couple doors up...That's was the catalyst for the temperature disagreement...How dare I try and get my way?
I ended up receiving a lecture about getting a cold or flu and how that would go for me considering I have a lower immune-system due to being diabetic...And then she went around closing the doors I'd opened and put the heater on...Ten minutes later I was sweltering...And had capitulated altogether. Another win for Faith, and a pathetic loss for me.
I'll be honest...I'm a good negotiator; I do it as a job all day every day but rarely do I win this argument discussion...Hmm, actually I can't recall ever winning it...Not even supplying her with the most logical of suggestions like put a sweater on seems to have any positive effect on swaying the discussion my way.
I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll never win and so can often be found walking around my house in the middle of winter in shorts and a t-shirt to account for the fact it's a gazillion degrees inside.
Does anyone ever have the same problem? Surely I cannot be the only person who suffers this issue and am brave enough to attempt to set the temperature to my liking? In truth though, I've given up trying to get my own way...It's easier that way.

I'll be honest, Faith and I rarely argue and this temperature thing is more a point of annoyance that argument...After all, I came to learn early on that a happy wife makes for a happy life. Lol.
