That's my shoulder y'all and yep, they're needles sticking out of it. They're supposed to be helping solve an issue I have but I think my torturer, otherwise known as Kelly the physiotherapist, just likes inflicting pain on me. She's good at it too!
I've had an issue with my shoulder since October last year which causes me a lot of pain and lost mobility. It's called bursitis, or a frozen shoulder, or so they say and I've been having some treatment including cortisone injections, physiotherapy and now dry-needling. Added to this are some exercises, which also hurt to do, and slowly I'm gaining a little more range of movement. It is slow going though and they tell me it could be 12-18 months before it is cleared up...Good for Kelly's Mercedes Benz payments, not so good for the G-dog. Still, having it sorted is a strong focus as I'm in a lot of pain and it is inhibiting my movement so much that I've had to stop doing a few things: Lifting weights, some shooting activities and stuff around the house. That affects my mental state as I feel useless.
Today was the second dry-needling torture-session and my arm feels very heavy and painful around the area where the needles were. It will be like that for 24 hours. It has relaxed the muscles though and, as it did last time, is expected to allow more movement which in turn allows me to exercise it more and gain some ground on the whole thing. I'll be back to bench-pressing 120kg in no time! (Ok, ok 100kg!)
Kelly seems to think it's all going well and when I visited the specialist last week he was also happy to see a greater range of movement in only four weeks of trearment. Of course, it's not moving quickly enough for me as I want it fixed yesterday!
So, I got tortured today and am feeling a little sorry for myself...A few nice comments to perk me up would be nice...Or you can lay into me for whining about a few needles! 😂
