Hi y'all, hows the hive team going? Well, I hope of course, and hopefully you've all been having a great weekend and filling it with things you value most.
I've had a relaxed Sunday, one of those days where the couch sees more of me than anywhere else. I've spent the day catching up on a few TV documentaries, one very awesome on on the Isle of Man TT and one on some of the structures the Nazi's build prior to and during World War II and reading a book about Navy SEAL's. Interesting stuff.
It was a good day capped off by a little visit from a friend and her fiancee who came over for coffee and cake and to take my audio-visual equipment away.
I moved house five years ago, down-sized from a large home back to the first house I ever bought. My father was living there, but due to his dementia issue and age required more assistance...We moved to care for him. That meant storing things from my house, and trying to fit the rest into the much smaller one we moved to.
One of the casualties was my home theatre equipment; I just didn't have the room to set it up at the small house so it got packed up.
I held onto it for a while thinking we may move back but we sold that house a couple years ago and the audio-visual equipment remained packed away.
A couple of weeks ago I decided to give the great to give it away and I started asking around to see who may want it. Pretty quickly my friend threw her hand up and today came to collect it.
I gave her the full home theatre set-up including the projector, amplifier/tuner, 5 speakers and the sub woofer...All Yamaha equipment except for the projector. I won't say how much it cost me as it's not relevant; A lot covers it though, but I've had the equipment for a long time and as we all know technology is almost worthless after a few years and this equipment has been in my possession for longer than a few years. It is all in splendid condition, is great quality and for free...Well, it's a pretty decent pick up for my friend who is about to buy a house with her fiancee.
My friend was over the moon and as we were loading it into their vehicle kept asking what I want for it...I didn't charge her though, I'm just glad it is going to a good home, will be valued and will continue to provide enjoyment, as it did for Faith and I.
I get a buzz out of passing things on to be used by others as in this day and age everything seems to be a throw-away item...I have no doubt my equipment will serve for many years to come and may even get handed down to someone else in the future; Better that than land-fill.
Have you guys ever handed something on to someone else to continue service? A phone, clothing, bicycle, vehicle, books, tools...Anything? Have you received something handed to you in this way? Comment below if you have, tell the story, I'm keen to hear about it.
Have a great Sunday y'all, relax like me or get energetic...Just do whatever you do with passion. Life's too short not to.
