Give me my Gangan
That I may place its belt on my shoulders
And asked these human cows
What pleasure they derive from raping a woman
What pleasure does a child get
From stealing hot slices of yam from the pot
And stuffing his throat to avoid getting caught?
At last the child is unable to enjoy the yam
And himself and his blistered tongue
Let my Gangan deaf rapist!
I was seduced
The victim dressed provocatively
But what excuse will the human cow give
For raping a two-year old baby
Or an octogenarian?
Let this Gangan deaf the rapist:
Man cannot afford to live like animals
In poultry sheds where the cockrel mounts the hen
Where consent is a luxury
Gangan is a Yoruba word for a talking drum. The drum is widely known throughout West Africa
