Matki Dance is a folk dance performed by the nomadic tribes in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, India. This dance is performed only by the countryside women of the plateau on special occasions such as the birth of a child or weddings.
The women balance a small pitcher or an earthen pot on their heads, known as ‘Matki’ in Hindi, the official language of the country.
I made this illustration when I was working for QED42 brand. It was a really good company and I loved working there. It was a long time ago when I worked for them in #36daysoftype challenge.
