It is 2nd day of school holidays so I tried to find something for the eldest son to do. This DIY lantern kit was bought last week in view of the upcoming mooncake festival. I thought since we have a week of school holiday before the festival, we can try to self assemble our lanterns!
I bought 2 designs and the eldest chose a star lantern. So today, after watching the tutorial sent by the seller from China, I thought, "let's try it out."
It was more difficult than it looks. Maybe because the star-shaped lantern has some angles for us to stick the paper on. We first built its frame and my son could still try that with me.
However, when it came to sticking the papers on, I needed to help him most of the time yet it still keep coming off so I took over. Took me awhile too though I am an adult or maybe my hands are not so crafty, you know.
After nearly an hour, we managed to install the lights and also another accesory on it and hook it onto a stick provided.
Son was very eager to wait for night to come so he can see how it looks like in the dark. I think after some hard work, I am glad it did look not bad. Now hopefully this will not spoil before the exact day of mooncake festival when we celebrate with it and family.
There is another lantern with a different design to be assembled. Let's see if I can document that as well on Hive in another post.
