Have you ever heard about the concept of, Word of the Year?
I first heard about it a few years back, when I attended a Servants' Assembly at The Feast, a Catholic church community where I am serving at.
According to Rhythms of Play, "a word of the year is a word or phrase you choose to help you stay focused, motivated, and on track throughout the year. It is an uplifting, positive, inspirational word that motivates you to take action."
While The Hope Table describes it as, "a word about leaning and aligning yourself with what God is doing in your life. It’s bringing intentionality to the season you are in."
Some people choose their WOTY themselves, while others use online WOTY generators.
I personally use an online generator because I couldn't get myself to think of a word. Hehe
The first-ever generator that was introduced to me was, wordoftheyear.me.
This is pretty straightforward to navigate. You just need to press the "show me my word" button, and you're good to go.
I later discovered another WOTY generator, under Day Spring..
I personally like Day Spring more because they require you to answer a few questions before giving you your word. I feel like that makes the word more personalized and legit for you. Hehe
My WOTY for 2021 was, overcome. I even searched for a Bible Verse to support that. My Verse of the Year was, Romans 12:21, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
I felt like God really wanted that for me, because I came across that verse on January 12, 2021. Romans 12:21. Jan. 12, '21. What are the odds? A year after, I realized how much my 2021 WOTY was meant for me because last year was quite rocky. And whenever I felt overwhelmed, I would think of my WOTY and VOTY, and tell myself that I will overcome everything.
For 2022, I used DaySpring again to generate my WOTY. This was what I got:
Yes, dude. This year, I am empowered!
How about you? Do you have a Word of the Year, too? If none yet, give these online generators a try! Lemme know in the comment section about you word! I'll be happy to hear about them.
Stay sane and safe!
Let's spread happiness.
