This festive season I was able to outline some of the places I wish to visit with my family. Most of much I have successfully carried out and it's a thing of joy indeed.
One of the places we visited is an Orphanage Home in my area. The Home is the first of its kind here. I remember months back I was looking for an Orphanage home within, made several inquiries, and was told there was none, so one of the days I was working past that location I saw the notice then decided to trace them.
On getting there I discovered that the Reverend Sister was my classmate during the PGDE so that made things easier for me because of the built relationship.
In that home, she has 6 children under her watch and 4 of them are residing in the home while the rest are at a home.
Those children's story was so touching I must say. You know in this part of the country there are lots of crisis that occurs ranging from ethnic clash to Fulani herdsmen attack, and this has rendered so many children vulnerable. One of the boys there lost their mother and the father can't help himself because he is using a walker then he got married to another woman who then turned the boy into a house boy. The other boy lost his father too and the girls lost their fathers also, then their father's parents which happen to be their grandparents now turned their mother into a slave.
They will send her to the IDP camp to get some food then return home, when the food gets exalted they will send her back to the camp. This is purely a slave trade, this touched my heart so much. Now, the woman with one of her children was sent to Jos to get better care then the sister took the two girls the remaining child is still with the father and brother but an effort is being made to retrieve him also.
Lots of stories she good also and their present challenge of accommodation.
Well, am happy we were able to meet this child this year and shared the little we had with them. We gave them some biscuits and drinks, then we took off to a friend's place where the wife was blessed with a baby girl.
You may not understand how it feels to be in dire need until you have been faced with one, or how it feels to lose a dear one until it happens to you.
Sometimes I wonder why is it that girls are mostly at the receiving of all these Value issues.
If you give a helping hand to one person and that one person to another and so on we will have a better place to be and value will soon become a thing of the past.
We took some time to explain what hive stands for and what we do at least that helped to give her more free mind with us
The visit was made by , the kids, and myself.
Special appreciation to all who care about what we do and all who support us in one way or the other.
I believe that next year holds greater things for us. Merry Christmas and a Prosperous new year.
