Introducing me.
So hi, hello, hey!? Anyone there?
This feels like public speaking... I've never been very good at that. Actually, I'm terrible at it. Something about attention focused on me makes me choke up. So bear with me, whilst I try to introduce myself, which is not something I've really had to do, ever. I'm really quite a private person.
So I'm Lisa. Hi nice to meet you!
Ive come to Hive mainly because I want to read all the cool shit you have on here. My husband is here, Hi Honey @Rubido! He really likes the content and people here, and being as he is generally an excellent judge of character and atmosphere I feel confident that I will like it here to.
The third and most important person that completes our family trio is our son. Our superbly goofy, fountain of joy and chaos in equal measure 6 year old. He actually had his first day of primary/elementary school yesterday. It's a curious feeling to be both sad and delighted in equal measure that he grows so damn fast.
Ok, back to me. Honestly? It was nice to divert the focus for a bit then.
Uhmmm...so...
I really enjoy making things. It could be a something as basic as learning a new crochet stitch to as my husband puts it 'house bashing' to renovate a room (although he doesn't trust me with the power tools... I'm too clumsy I guess)
I am not always the most creative person. I find lots of inspiration from others which usually leads me towards a unique creation. Above all I love the process, it's like therapy.
I guess a good analogy to how I create would be cooking; solid ingredients, put together in different ways to yield a new result. Not always good; sometimes spectacular. It's those moments that make me feel a great sense of accomplishment.
Regardless of the technicalities, art, crafts, and creating things with my hands brings me great joy and satisfaction. There are of course other things which I thoroughly enjoy. For example. I love to read and learn more about History. Particularly ancient history. Learning more about the origins of our early civilizations, and how they shaped and influence the cultures we have today is fascinating. The oftentimes forgotten histories of the everyday person intrigue me. Ruins, both great and small, ancient and relatively modern provoke curiosity and reflection.
This all probably goes a long way towards explaining why I dreamed of being an archeologist when I was a kid. Not a Howard Carter, but a Time Team cast member (I don't know if anyone will get that reference.)
I also dreamt of being a flower fairy, but that never happened either. Actually that's one of the earliest dreams I ever had, I still remember wondering if it was real or not?
OK focus Lisa. What else should I share? Errr....honey help? is being remarkably taciturn. He has a memory like an old goat (apparently goats do indeed have a good memory, an he is a capricorn), you'd think he would just bounce a few things back at me that I've said before, maybe? I guess it's for the best, unfiltered me.
Yay for you.
I like to think that I am quietly funny, maybe even nuanced? But that's probably just a band aid over "not really funny by a country mile." But I try! Wasn't there a post recently about someone's views on participation awards? I feel like those are the only ones I win. Oops.
This is probably the best I can do for my very first post. Hurrah! Publicly speaking about myself is a singularly peculiar endeavor. Maybe future posts might give a more of an insight into who I am....Like an onion I've got layers (an old analogy but nether the less a good one), hopefully this post doesn't stink like one.
