While everyone in the family is busy doing individual tasks, there I found my 4-year old nephew who is trying to make himself busy as well.
He is the only child in our home, so he doesn’t have a regular playmate since we only play with him on our vacant time. Playing is his routine every morning and he also plays in the afternoon before his study time with my sister.
When the social distancing was implemented, we didn’t allow him to go outside and play with the other kids in the neighborhood. He sometimes mentions that he missed going outside to play and our family outings as well.
Whenever he asks permission to go out, we just told him that we can’t, then he will be the one to complete the sentence, “kay naa pay coronavirus no? Unya na lang ta molaag kung wa nay coronavirus ha? (because there is still coronavirus, right? We’ll just go out if coronavirus is gone, okay?)”
It’s a good thing that we don’t need to explain further, and he already knows how to understand why he can’t go out.
So here he is, still finding his way how he can utilize other things and use it as one of his toys.
We also noticed that he can now focus on playing with his toys unlike before where we find him as a hyper child who can’t focus on activities. We are glad that he can easily understand things in his age and is growing up as an adorable and intelligent child. Having a child in the family gives real joy to everyone.
We’ll surely miss this young man when he’ll return to his immediate family after this pandemic subsides. While he is still in our care, we’ll surely cherish and enjoy his presence.
