This is my introductory post and I am excited to be part of this great Hive community. My name is YUSUF
JOY ODUNAYO. I am from Lagelu local
government area Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria.
I studied B.ED in Guidance and Counselling and I’m currently serving my fatherland. I am good with different handiworks. I try out new things daily, I love to cook and like trying out different recipes. I am fun to be with because I possess very strong positive energy, I have always been an ambivert and I’m a lovable person. I do the right things at the right time and I hope to travel round the world someday.
THE UNITED STATE OF AMERICA is the number one country on my bucket list. I love the positivity of the country and I will probably save my last coin to go there. I am very fast at writing and I type very fast too. I sing so well and I love to learn new songs. I partially love to read. My favourite movie, for now, is A STAR IS BORN. The movie taught me a lot of lessons about “mental health" and I will like you to see it too.
EDUCATION
Growing up, my family lives in LAGOS where I attended my nursery, primary and secondary school. After my WAEC, I wrote jamb on different occasions before I finally gained admission in 2017 to study Guidance and Counselling at Obafemi Awolowo University.
PROFESSIONAL CAREER
Before the existence of my admission into the university, I learnt how to operate a computer and I was the best student, so I was retained. I worked for about 2 years before I gained admission into the university.
AS A FASHION DESIGNER
In 2020 during the coronavirus era, the pandemic forced everybody to stay at home and I used the opportunity to learn fashion designing from a woman close to my house. I am good at what I do and I can say I make women’s wear perfectly, I can also sew school uniform for both male and female. I don’t own a shop yet, but I work from home and it is comfortable for me.
WHAT I WILL BE DOING HERE
I will be singing and writing. Also, where I come from, health is taken with levity hand. Health is not considered important, it is uncommon for people to seek help concerning their mental health because they feel it shows a sign of weakness, others fear being judged and in most cases, there is nowhere to seek help. As a young woman, with my level of experience in my field of study, I aspire to educate people about mental health, provide them with the necessary information needed for them to face this issue, and as well teach them how to seek help when going through this phase. In doing so, I believe I have other people here on Hive who will share the same vision with me and assist me in this journey.
