Heyđź‘‹!
My name is Kamara, short for Chikamara. Chikamara is a traditional Igbo name which means "God knows best". I'm from Imo which is one of the states located in South Eastern Nigeria.
I am an undergrad in the university of Nigeria Nsukka majoring in microbiology with a biochemistry minor.
I was raised in a Christian home as my parents are Catholic. I'm the second of the five children my parents were blessed with. We are four girls and one boy with the boy being the penultimate child.
I have multiple interests and as a result I have a lot of hobbies. Some of them being reading (I can totally get lost within the pages of a great book), astrology (I'm a hugeeee astrology nerd and I'd like to be an actual astrologer someday. Oh and I'm aquarius in case you were wondering). I like having mind stimulating conversations and exchanging knowledge with people. Narrow minded people are the bane of my existence as I strongly believe that the world would be a better place if we could all find a way to live with each other despite our different beliefs and opinions.
I'm very pro natural hair. There's this very negative mindset surrounding African hair. Most of us grew up believing that we can't grow our hair or our hair is bad and it looks unkempt in it's natural state. I used to be one of those people but I've unlearned and relearned and I do not believe that anymore. One of my burning passions is making people believe that our hair is beautiful as evident in the picture above (...yes it is all my hair and no I haven't been growing it my whole life).
My favourite colour is blueđź’™. There's just something about it that pulls at my heartstrings. I do not have a favourite food as there's a plethora of delicacies so I honestly can't choose or say which is my favourite.
My friend Ojo referred me to hive. I'm glad to be part of this community and I'm excited to see what it has in store for me. I'll be making posts on personal experiences and things that interest me in general. I hope to find like minded people here and learn from other people's stories and experiences. I hope my future posts will be of interest to most or some of you.
With that said....have a beautiful day!
