I lived my early life in Port Harcourt, Mile Two Diobu, though I've traveled to other states to cover events, weddings, and traditional marriages. I love to play snooker. I can handle the stick very well; I don't think I love any other game other than snooker. When I was young, I played football very effectively, to the extent that I was nicknamed after Adebayo of Togo. However, my mom wouldn't allow me to play football, always clamoring that I should focus on my education. Which, was the greatest gift she gave me.
As the founder and CEO of Kels Records And Multimedia LTD, I, Clement Deedum Kelvin, have been a driving force in Nigeria's entertainment and creative industry for years. Born and raised in the vibrant Kpean community of Khana LGA, Rivers State, Nigeria, I've always been passionate about storytelling and visual arts.
My journey in media began in 2012, when I stepped in as an assistant director of photography on a movie set. Despite initial plans to act, my fascination with photography led me to take on this new role. With no prior knowledge, I embarked on a self-taught journey, leveraging online resources, YouTube tutorials, and personal research to hone my skills.
Acquiring a personal camera was a significant milestone, allowing me to practice and refine my craft. I worked tirelessly to improve, eventually landing roles as lead photographer for The GrindTV reality TV show and servicing Seviola Studio in Sierra Leone.
Another challenge I grew into in my career was when I started working with Goldcity Entertainment. I was in my final year then, and I took up this part-time job at Goldcity Entertainment, which was very challenging. I'd go to class in the morning and rush from school to meet up at the Goldcity studio for my part-time job. Sometimes I'd get to work very late, and sometimes I'd skip lunch because if I took lunch, I'd definitely get to work late. The salary wasn't enough, either, since I'd spend half of it on transportation.
In all, it was a worthwhile experience. I gained most of my knowledge in studio photography from Goldcity Studio. I had some lovely colleagues who assisted me in covering up most times when I couldn't meet up coming from school to work.
There was this one day when I almost missed a test because I left class early. On my way to work, I received a call from my course mate telling me the lecturer was about to administer a test after class. You should have seen me running back to class while a birthday client was waiting for me at the studio at the scheduled time for their shoot. What a frustrating day it was! I couldn't face her when I got to work. One situation I always try to avoid is disappointing my clients. Actually, I managed to shoot her and deliver her pictures on time. This wasn't an ordinary gift; it was a product of my self-discipline and hunger for greatness.
In 2014, I earned admission to study Estate Management at a prestigious university, graduating with a B-Tech degree. I also pursued certificate programs in Cyber Security and Environmental Science, with a focus on Disaster/Environmental Risk Management. My current research explores the impact of pipeline routing on land use in Rivers and Bayelsa states.
One of my greatest inspirations comes from the book
"The Richest Man in Babylon," which states,
"If a man set aside nine parts of his earnings upon which to live and enjoy life, and if any part of the nine parts he turns into a profitable investment without detriment to his wellbeing, then so much faster will his treasures grow."
This timeless wisdom has guided my approach to building a successful career and accumulating wealth.
As a visionary, I aim to establish Kels Records And Multimedia LTD as a leading media brand in Nigeria, producing top-tier movies that meet global standards. My drive towards humanitarian services drives me to give back to society, empowering the less privileged and marginalized. I'm currently developing the KEL Humanitarian Foundation, seeking collaborations and partnerships to make a lasting impact.
