A new start in HIVE Blog! This is getting excited with my first post here on HIVE, not forgetting the crazy airdrop for the old Steemit bloggers. Before we dive into my introduction, I would like to thanks from
who initiated this challenge. Also thanks
that had enabled this challenge to have more lucrative reward and also allowing us to trade. Well, let us get into it!
Self-Introduction: Who Am I?
On Steemit, I am known as which is actually an abbreviation of my name and the brand that I wanted to build. My full name is Kim Zhao Wei (which is the kimzw) and Arch naturally stands for architecture which is also the profession I am in. Currently, I am self-employed and running marketing role in two businesses, one is urban farming and the other one is pet care. Before that, I had started an initiative called
to congregate great architectural ideas under one platform. There is a planning to gather different stories from different places to make into a collective of stories as a travelling guide. Unfortunately, I was not able to deliver due to my loss of focus after getting some issue in my day job. After that, I had to focus more on my day job and finally resigned to pursue my entrepreneur dream. Since then, it had been already 6 months and it felt a lot had happened throughout this period of time. Most importantly, this journey really prompted to think over about my life and what I am going to do about it.
What I am Up To?
So far, I am working on marketing role (and also almost anything) on these few businesses:
Vetamind Pet Care
This is a new venture started on January 2020 with my wife to bring in quality pet products like herb based supplement for the local community. We had started this since the final quarter of 2019 where we did research, visited international fairs and tested on a few products before deciding which is the best product to be our first on our store.
Vetamind aims to improve the well-being by providing a trustable platform for the pet community to go to so that they can get their hands on quality and worthy products. As a pet owners ourselves with 3 poodles and 2 local dogs, we know very well on how we have to really take care of them as it is a mess when anyone of them get sick. Prevention is always better than cure and that is why we see that it is a need to share our knowledge that we gain throughout our journey finding the best fit for our pets.

Urban Farm
On urban farming side, I had this partnership relationship with the company founder to work together and grow the business. To me, it is a personal belief that urban farming is one of the best way to deliver a steady and quality supply of greens to the local community without the worry of any external factor like pest and weather. Besides, with the advent of IoT technology and big data, we are able to plan ahead what to plant so that the wastage of greens can be minimized. This not only brings more value to the table but also improve the whole supply chain where the farmers can earn more than the conventional ones. Besides, it is more sustainable in comparison to conventional soil-based planting as it requires less water, less land and will not pollute the surrounding due to the excessive usage of fertilizer and pesticides.
The current challenge is to create more awareness and acceptance on the different range of product and get people to taste the products grown from the system. There are a lot of sceptical views about the greens grown through hydroponics and aquaponics but both are equally good as soil-based farmed vegetables (just there are some differences in taste as there are different nutrient elements in the soil that have not been added into the formula of the water-based planting). Well, there are many more hurdles ahead of me and I would definitely want to get through it and start a growing business by this year.
These are the two main things I am up to now and it had taken me most of my time to do research and validating with actions. Frankly speaking, it is not easy to start a whole new business and also to build a community that trust our brand. Yet, every successful business start with zero, so taking the first step and continue to move on is a vital mindset. All the unicorns that we see nowadays, they also have their very own humble beginnings. Well, that is what I should keep in mind about and keep grinding.
Validating HIVE
After HIVE launched for over a week or so, I started to make my move in checking and validating HIVE by trading HIVE to BTC and reinvest in another platform I am in which is TORQUE. Super big thanks to to allow this trading to happen in a simple and fast manner (just that at the end of the process, the traded BTC needs to wait around 2-3 hours to get into my TORQUE wallet which gets me nervous). Anyhow, I successfully traded HIVE and this shows that HIVE is really a coin with value and is something worth investing in like how I believe in the model of Steem blogging.
Here I would just like to share a simple go through of how I did it:
1st Step - Download Key Chain For HIVE
By downloading and installing KeyChain for Hive (link here), it is more convenient to check my balance and also authorize a transaction. If you face difficulties in installing the extension, you could check this guideline.
This is how it looks like in Chrome
2nd Step – Sign In/Up into

Go to https://blocktrades.us/en/trade and you can trade your HIVE or Steem with the major cryptocurrency that you want (BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT). Insert the amount you want to trade and complete the withdraw and deposit addresses down below after confirming the trade amount you wanted.
This is how the home page looks like
3rd Step – Get the Deposit Address
Identify which wallet you want to put, in my case is my TORQUE wallet where I could get my BTC to be traded passively for me. Below I showed the print screen of the account with the traded BTC from HIVE and the exact amount was transferred to the TOQUE wallet. (Note that there are around 2 and a half hours in the buffer before the transaction happens, so worry not)
Print screen from account, note on the 474.077 HIVE that I traded for 0.02205188 BTC
Print screen from Torque account, here goes my 0.02205188 BTC
And yeah, that is about it and this validates HIVE itself!
On a side not, if you want to know more about TORQUE whereby you could earn passive income with a controlled and minimal risk, feel free to contact me where I could guide you through the process and overview of the company.
Of course not forgetting my referral link to register yourself on the platform!

Where Am I Heading?
This is an unexpected 2020 for me. With the COVID-19 pandemic, I had been trapped at home for 2 weeks and counting (14 days ahead). This had led me to rethink how should I get over my business plan and make things work for me. First of all, I am quite clear on a few items, especially what are my goals for the year. I would like to take this opportunity to review it again.
1- To Study For LAM Part III Exam
This is the final stage for my architectural “academic” path where I need to go through a minimum of 2 years of experience in practicing the profession and then eligible to sit for the exam. With this certificate, I will be officially an “Architect” who can start an Architectural Consultancy Practice and is able to endorse drawings (taking liability). So far, I think I am still at the very beginning of picking up the pace with my current condition of having to juggle a few roles at the same time. Yet, I am determined to start to put this into a habit rhythm by next month. Basically, my aim is to spend at least 12 hours per week to study for the subject and get an accumulative 200 hours of study before going for the oral test. As of now, I am still at an accumulative of 30 hours in studying, which is far behind the schedule.
2 – To Start off Business
This is also another main thing happening in 2020 where I am officially “unemployed” while taking different side jobs to sustain my living for the very start. I think I am blessed with supportive parents and wife who are also helping not only through spiritually but also financially. Yet, I think I had been wasted quite a lot of good sweet time to get things moving. Once I hit a wall, I need some time to get over with it and start again from that spot. In business, I had set myself some parameters like earning a certain amount of revenue by the end of the year which up until now, I am only hitting around 3% of the goal (damn). Another parameter is about launching a few projects (or business model), which I think I had been working on 4 so far (urban farming, pet care, gift, and art). The challenging thing is to prioritize on one at a given time to hit a milestone before getting into another one. Yet, I think there can be only one to really focus into as it requires a lot of effort and time to make a business sustainable. Luckily, I have a business partner who is my wife, . There may be pros and cons to have my other half to be working together as well, but it is a plus during such dire moment. In overall, my role is more on marketing and sales where I need to reach out to the public on the products and services then create sales.
3 – Start Recording
This is one of the most challenging task for me, taking diary especially noting down my time spent on every tasks. I had heard about how to optimize my time use and by understanding my productivity through this practice, I can save up a lot of wasted time and get things growing in a more productive way. Yet, I am still reluctant to start this as I think I may need to sacrifice my “heh”/doing nothing time. Thinking about it, now I will need to allocate a period of time maybe an hour for doing nothing or just for entertainment. Even though I know in reality that it doesn’t really create any revenue for my business, but it keeps me sane and able to focus when I need to. So far, I think I had just succeeded in recording for around 25 days for this year. Pretty sucks but just keep it up!
On both HIVE and Steemit, I think I will be continuously sharing how I achieve these three goals (everyday) if possible so to keep me in check and motivate me to move. I know it is not easy to keep this going as there is always laziness in me that wants me to just chillax.
Hope to have the community to keep me in check as well and share your critics and comments while you are watching me (if you are, I would definitely want to be in touch with you, as I know reading this up is definitely someone who trust me on this).
