We had an interesting activity last week Friday in our school it's called the school market day program it's an activity that's meant to expose students early into trading activities like buying and selling goods
so in the future if they find themselves in a market they know what to do since they have the experience.
So at the start of the big day, tents were made round the school compound to give it that local market look. And every teacher was assigned to a particular tent.
The role of the students were to sell and market products provided by the school and some staff of the school who were traders also
While the teachers are to supervise the students activities and the parents were the buyers.
So I wanted to go to the tent that was assigned to me but as the ICT teacher/ ICT personnel I was told to prepare a transcript for a student that just got admitted abroad and before I could finish and join the market time was far gone but I had to participate one way or another.
I finished the transcript and ran to the marketplace and what surprised me was how rowdy everywhere was like an actual market.
So I went to the tent I was assigned and discovered that there was no staff there to supervise the children's activities while I was working on the transcript. So I looked into the children's records and discovered that they were selling things for half the price.
In short lots of damages were done while I was away and when I asked them why they sold for half the price they said they wanted to sell everything and they wanted to give customers discounted prices so the customers could buy their goods fast.
I scolded them and took over and everything went well and we made lots of sales before the children got tired and I also got tired and the children were asked to go home.
So the market day came to an end and it was time for accounting and we called the owners of the products and they were angry when they heard the children sold their products for half of the price and insisted they must get their money and after exchanging words with them.
We decided to calculate what we had first so they would know their loss. Then another problem arose the written record of things sold was #41,400 but the cash at hand was #37,900 which means #3500 was missing from the money and the children have already gone home.
but the fact is that when i took over from the children I didn't check the amount of money that was given to me by them whether it tallied with the amount on the written items that was sold.
So everyone was angry and confused 😕 then we decided that everyone should go home and on Monday everything will be ironed out.
But what I discovered is that the owners of the Goods would do anything to make sure they recoup their loss. But let's see what happens on Monday after school.
