It's been a month since I posted about my Postcard social experiment.
RECEIVING A POSTCARD
A few days ago I received my latest postcard from . She lives in Switzerland but is originally from Slovakia. I sent her a postcard card a few months ago and she said she wanted to send one back to me from her home country when she goes back for Christmas.
This is what she sent me. It's quite a big postcard and I've placed a pen on top so you can gauge the size.
The postcard has images of many wooden churches. said these wooden churches are very representative of her city that's why she wanted to wait till she went back to Slovakia to send me the postcard. That is so thoughtful as I've never been to Slovakia before. Thank you
.
Here's the back of the postcard and the stamp. I've been rather busy this week (more on that in a minute ) and haven't had a chance to research the stamps. I'm guessing the €1 has something to do with commemorating the first world war? The 20¢ one perhaps the wooden churches, and I have no idea what the structure is on the 10¢ stamp.
SENDING A POSTCARD
A couple of weeks ago I sent my latest postcard to in Russia. I'm so happy that I can add another new country to my postcard social experiment. And apologies to
for the delay. It was just before the Chinese New Year when he contacted me and we have a week off for that. Then this whole Wuhan virus blew up and affected pretty much everyone in Asia, and many other countries worldwide. I stayed in most of the time and didn't go out...
Anyway, here's a little funny story when I went to mail the postcard. I was given a rather large stamp of a chicken, it's the first time I've seen this stamp. This isn't the funny bit, by the way, I digressed. Some of the stamps are self adhesive, this one wasn't. I don't like licking stamps and there was no glue around. Then I saw this sponge thing and thought perfect, I can moisten the stamp with that. I pressed the stamp down and moved it around because the stamp was quite large. I noticed my finger tips had some red marks. Then I realised this is an ink stamp not a water sponge! Traditionally Taiwanese use a personalised chop instead of a signature and the ink pad is for the chop. I thought it was a red sponge but it's actually red ink!!! How stupid of me 😜
So when you receive my postcard , and see red smudges around the stamp, you'll know why.
SENDING MORE POSTCARDS
My postcard social experiment has been ongoing for over four months and so far I've sent out
14 postcards to 10 countries, and
10 Christmas cards to 8 countries.
I think all but one Christmas card to in Romania have arrived 😢
In return, so far I've received
10 postcards from 5 countries, and
3 Christmas cards from 3 countries
In addition, I know from Australia sent me a card in late December and
from Ukraine sent me one in November!! Neither have arrived.... yet, but it's the thought that counts. So thank you still.
I will continue my postcard social experiment for as long as someone wants a postcard from Taiwan.
POSTCARD WITH A TWIST
Remember earlier on I said I've been quite busy? That's because I was getting ready for my next trip. In the coming week I'm going to be in three different countries in three different continents. So I want to put a twist on things, and send postcards to people from one of these three countries. I'm not going to tell you which countries these are as I want to keep it a surprise and make this fun.
If you would like a surprise postcard, you can chose between country A, B or C. I'll try to mail the postcard from the same country if I have enough time otherwise I'll do it in country C as I'll be spending more time there. It doesn't matter if I've sent one to you before or whether you've just learnt about my experiment, everyone is welcome. But you have to tell me your choices in the next few days especially if you want country A or B.
You can contact me on Discord livinguktaiwan#6787 or Telegram @L_U_T or Steemchat livinguktaiwan. And if you want to find out more about my Postcard social experiment you can read this post. I hope to hear from you!!
