The other day when I lament about how I spend my time, I opened my gallery and pulled out a picture that has been becoming my guide in dividing time.
From that guide above, one can divide the time as follows :
- Sleep : 8 hours
- Work : 9 hours
- Exercise : 2 hours
- Time left : 5 hours
But in reality, it's not easy as it appears. For instance, I am one that won't spend 2 hours for working out. The maximum time I spend working out will be 30 minutes. So that means, I will have spare 1 and half hour to do something else.
When it comes to work, I certainly don't spend that much time. 9 hours working is a lot of time to get several articles a day. Maximum, I spend about an hour writing 2 articles and that's something of my rambling. Though sometimes it will take me couple of hours to write a well-researched article that's a bit outside my domain.
And my time left, I use to spend it on doing nothing. So lately, this comes into my attention and I want to be more mindful about the time I spent. I can use some of its time to practice my skills.
I think lately, I am not being intentional about my routine at all. I wasted 420 hours and I gained nothing from it. I am going to be more intentional so I can make up with the time I lost.
If you want to design time and your day, the easiest way is pick up a pen and start diving time. Everyone loves metric and it's much more digestible than without metrics. So, try it out and let me know how you spend your 24 hours. signing out
