We have our own ways to run our life. However, there are so many conflicting ideas about how much you should sleep, when to sleep, when to exercise for your optimum health. Yet, there are night owls, like me who feel best and alive at night. So, what should we do then?
When science is against my way of life, I will generally try to read and research more. If there are other options that I can do to keep my health while still doing my lifestyle. Most of the time, there are no ways around that I can cheat my health, especially sleeping.
As many medical practitioners said, sleep is important. A neuroscientist called Dr Matthew Walker, who has been studying sleep wrote a book titled Why we sleep. In that sleep, he lays out many interesting points about sleeping. His book has been becoming quite well-discussed, almost like a broken record. The point is sleep is very important and there’s no way we can cheat our way around it.
About a week ago, I tried to switch my sleeping into my old lifestyle. So, I was sleeping in the morning and woke up at night. The result was amazing. I became grumpier, had a weird mood and productivity was non-existent.
However today I decided to fix my sleeping and it was still the same. I still had a problem with naps. It seems somehow I already adjust my schedule to night activities where I think I do best. Also, remember the article I wrote about diving the time? I found that I was only able to focus on work for 3 hours. That too was not an important work but only normal and mundane things I do in my daily life. In the upcoming article, I will discuss some of my distraction challenges and the idea of sacrificing something in order to level up in life.
So now, do you do best in the morning or at night?
