I joined Hive two months ago but I waited to prepare my introduction post until I understood more about Hive and its ecosystem. There has been a learning curve and I am very thankful for the people in and
who have helped me learn about the community. After two months of exploring, I am ready to talk about myself some and outline some of my goals in Hive.
Speaking of learning, that is one of the main traits of my personality. I like to learn and I like to work. Both my mind and my hands are constantly in motion. This was good when I was young, but now I am past middle age. Sometimes my body doesn't want to do all the things that my mind wants to do. That's why learning is a good activity. My mind doesn't seem to have the same lag as my body these days. I do remodeling work on homes, and I hope I can continue to do so for several more years.
I tend to work with small homes and mobile homes for remodeling. I want everyone to be able to afford a nice home. There's a real lack of nice starter homes in my area, and I am changing that one project at a time!
Professionally, I have worked in several industries and built a few small businesses. Currently, I work in real estate as an agent, remodeler, and investor. This gives me a good bit of flexibility for travel and family. As I age, I value my time and family even more. I spent too many hours at the office and on the road when my children were younger.
What I like about Hive so far is the different communities. I like to garden and I am working on becoming self sufficient in food production.
I like plants that are ornamental and edible, like my prickly pear cactus.
I enjoy seeing how other people in different countries farm and garden. I added several raised beds last year and I plan to expand my garden in the spring. I have around 2 acres of land that I can use for vegetable production. Also, I raise quail and chickens. Quail are my favorite bird for egg production. This year we dyed the quail eggs for Easter. They looked like candy!
I also like to fish. There is a large pond in my backyard and we added fish last year. We hope to catch fish larger enough to eat this summer. I live in the southeastern United States so spring, summer and fall are very enjoyable with moderate temperatures. I spend much of my time outdoors at least during my free time.
One other hobby is that I like classic cars. I attend car shows, but usually as a spectator. I own a 1966 Ford Mustang, that is the base model with a six cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. I drive the car almost every week, so it is not really a show car.
I started my first community in Peakd about real estate investing Real Estate Investors My goal is that I can share my 30 years of real estate investing with others. And I hope other people will share their knowledge with me.
I came to #hive through #Splinterlands. I did not know much about crypto or NFTs. So I started playing Splinterlands to help me learn. I engage in Splinterlandtalk at #SPT and I trade cards at #PeakMonsters. I am still learning and building my digital portfolio of cards for rent and play. I learned alot from watching videos by , so I want to say thanks to him for his hardwork in promoting Splinterlands.
I want to start a few other communities, but I am not sure what the topics will be yet. Since my interest is fishing and gardening, I currently have found a home for some of my blogs in Fishing and Gardening and since I am a little older I joined Silver Bloggers
I want to find ways that I can become a better person in my next few decades. I enjoy following people from other countries and reading their stories. As I become more comfortable sharing in this type of platform, I hope to add my own personal stories.
I have several ideas for upcoming Hive projects and communities. If you have a chance, follow my blog. It's a journey and I hope we take it together! Also, hello to who is going on this journey with me.
