It is now the thirteenth of January and I am coming up on two weeks of posting on Hive this year. Some days are harder to find time then others and sometimes I have to think about things to post about, but I definitely feel that it has become easier the longer I push on. When starting out it is always hard as you have to change your schedule around to fit in posting, and posting only when you get time leads to inconsistent posting and just out right stopping, or at least this is what I have found from my experience. After all my shock at how few posts I did for last year, is what had encouraged me to start posting daily in the first place.
Posting has long been something that I have been doing even before Hive. I would play games and post about stuff way back when I was a daily Facebook user. That was how I ended up here on Hive after all, as a friend who had already discovered Hive encouraged me to stop posting on Web 2 platforms, like Facebook, and start posting to earn on Hive. Over the years I have always tried to make my posts quality content, which led to me spending more and more time to make my posts. Whilst this was a good thing in the form of effort I put into my posts, the interest in my posts has always been spiritic and more luck then a reflection of the effort I have put in. I am not complaining, but rather taking note of what has worked for me and what has not.
So if the quality of my posts is not showing value to my followers, then what is? I have seen increased interest in my posts when using both certain communities and certain games/subjects. These both make sense, why? Because over the years I have posted about many things, but the main thing I have posted about is gaming. So it makes sense that most of my followers are interested in gaming and that posting in both gaming communities and about the games I play, both earn more interest. The only real tools I have to rate interest though is up-votes and reblogs. These are not the best tools, but unless they add time spent viewing a post or a post view counter, content creators do not have any other tools to use other then comments. But once again they do not seem to mirror the effort that I put into the posts. This leads me to believe that comments are not reliable tool, but like both up-votes and reblogs, comments are also reliant on communities and the subjects I post about.
These observations have also encouraged me to post more regularly to see if consistent posting can earn increased interest in my posts over time. A post a day is a lot to keep up with, but having posting on Hive as a daily task not only boosts the amount of posts that I am pushing out, but it also has increased the ease and consistency of my posts. I feel that with time as I get faster, I will be able to also push more quality in to my posts. But for right now, this strategy has been working and I am finding that I have both time and the ability to keep my posts decent at this time. We will see if this sees an increase in interest in my posts over time or not. Either way I am having fun with it and it gives me more reason to jump on Hive each day.
I hope that you have enjoyed my posts so far.
And have a great day!
