Finally one good painting after long time. So happy with this result. The subject is beautiful white flowers basking in great light, and the stone wall and wooden window textures ideal for the rough grain paper. This subject would take lot of time to paint so the sketch was made with some details taking about half an hr time.
Quinacridone Seinna is like its made for the pot. Such a lovely colour, mixes well with others. A little Quinacridone Gold for the brighter sunny part did great to being up the warmth.
The plant with few leaves in light and few in shade had to be carefully painted. Have used 5 colours to get different shades of green in it. The pot and plant with flowers together took about an hour to finish. The flowers might be white but there are lavender tones to the shadows
The flowers will glow only if they compare to a contrasting dark background. The wooden window perfectly balances it. Had to paint it full dark and lift off the colours to get the perfect wood grains.
Finally the base colour for the stones and then lot of dry brush and dark shadows to bring the depth to it. Orange and purple with Quinacridone Seinna in different values for the stones.
The wooden block on the top of the window and few more details to the stone the painting is complete. Nearly 3hrs total painting time.
10x14in 440gsm 100% cotton handmade rough paper.
Final:
Can sleep peacefully today. I can't take my eyes off it.. this definitely needs to be framed.
