Fiery skies over the city of Amsterdam
It’s a dull weird sensation, it “drives me around the bend”,
Surprising me again, it’s my uninvited friend.
It throbs like a heartbeat and it gets on my nerves,
It thinks my attention and my time, it deserves.
Nagging, lingering, tormenting my every move,
From sanguine to miserable, it renders me subdued.
Nothing else will do, so I curl up in my bed,
It seems so surreal, as it’s all inside my head.
Painful and heavy - more my cranium cannot bear,
It spills out my thoughts, which then morphs into tears.
My saturated pillow has now become my muse,
Whispering softly, some well-timed good news.
“Just fall asleep as always, you know it’s for the best.
For after the slumber, the ache goes back to rest.”
