Believe it or not but I wasn’t a person who wanted to take care of a dog at first. I always thought that I was too busy with work, I didn’t want to miss out on dinners or night outs with friends, I wanted to travel around and simply be independent - essentially do what I wanted to do whenever I wanted to do them.
I guess back then I didn’t know what kind of a special bond and love a puppy can bring into my life yet.
For quite a while, getting a puppy was most of the time on the agenda when my partner and I were having discussions but I was oftentimes the one trying to dodge that item and change the topic quickly.
However, one summer afternoon, we happened to pass by a pet shop that was selling puppies and there she was playing with her five other male siblings. A full breed Lhasa Apso, almost 18 weeks old, white and brown in colour and in all of her innocence and cuteness. My partner couldn’t help but ask to hold her. From that moment, there wasn’t a way back anymore and we decided to get her. Since she wasn’t of the minimum age yet to be taken home and because she was still missing one last dose of her vaccine, we had to leave her behind for another week before we could actually collect her.
With anticipation from both ends, she was just sitting in front of the door while her siblings were playing around when we put her back down in the room she was in and we were looking at her imagining how she would change our dull routine into unexpected (sometimes exciting and sometimes frustrating but at same time funny) moments.
Then the day finally came when we got her.
It was love at first sight and a moment we’ll definitely always cherish. As beautiful as cherry blossoms 🌸 in Hokkaido, we decided to name her Sakura.
From that moment onwards, we experienced many ‘first times’ with Sakura like for instance, her smelling and feeling the grass for the very first time 🌱…
…or feeling the sea breeze and fine sand tickling her little paws 🐾.
She would run around in circles out of excitement and be just completely free. Not only for her benefit, surely, such moments also allow me to remember to cherish simple but wonderful times. It’s a reminder to take a breather and enjoy the very minute you’re in.
Worries and stress were gone in that instant~carried away by the wind.
We went around to various places to sniff what is out there…
…but we also took the time to relax and simply have lazy days. Sometimes nothing can beat a good and restful nap in the middle of the day.
So this is Sakura! Get to know us further on this blog as we are going to share more stories and life experiences with you all. Together we’re on this journey
Nice meeting you all!
