UNIMALNEWS | Bireuen– Malikussaleh University students who are conducting a Community Learning and Empowerment Real Work Lecture (KKN) participated in the successful training of making chips from banana stems in Lhok Awe-Awe Village, Kuala Sub-district, Bireuen Regency, which was held at the local village meunasah some time ago.
The event was organized by PKK Gampong Lhok Awe-Awe and attended by village officials, the Chairman of the Bireuen DPRK, the Bireuen Police Chief, TNI personnel, and Mrs. Bhayangkari which aims to improve the skills of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) entrepreneurs.
One of the members of Group 012, Cut Tiara Rizkia said that making these chips was quite easy because the ingredients were easy to get. The chips are made from sliced young banana stems soaked in whiting water and after being coated with spices, the soaked banana stem slices can be fried immediately.
"Banana stems also have many benefits, namely controlling weight, preventing anemia, overcoming diabetes, lowering blood pressure, and overcoming high cholesterol," said Cut Tiara.
Geuchik Gampong Lhok Awe-Awe, H. Maimun HR explained that the processing of banana stem chips is one of the activities of PKK gampong mothers in terms of developing MSMEs. "With this activity, it is hoped that in the future, banana stem chips can be produced smoothly and distributed to kiosks and even supermarkets so that the community's economy will also be helped," he added.
Meanwhile, Head of PKK Gampong Lhok Awe-Awe, Batdriah said that the production of banana stem chips could be an additional source of family income. These chips can be used as an alternative for souvenirs other than banana chips, especially since they are delicious and different from other
types of chips.
In this training, members of Group 012 helped organize this training, including slicing banana stems and soaking the sliced banana stems in whiting water. Their participation in this activity is a form of concern for KKN students in supporting activities organized by the gampong.
