The whole city was covered with posters, election campaigning was going on like crazy. There was no certain time for a rally and using the loudspeaker for the promotion campaign.
This was not a new experience for me. But I have got the chance to experience this after many years. That's why everything felt kind of new and seems more outlandish.
Let me share the craze with some photos.
It is the city corporation election in my hometown. It's in the main town but the lifestyle is nothing like big cities. People usually spend a laidback lifestyle and seem like they are happy with it.
So what you are going to witness will not match with anything; probably.
Looks what the city looks like. Literally, everyone was competing to showcase as many posters as they can. I know, you may wonder if there is any rule for this as it looks nothing close to beautiful or civil.
Yes, there is but nobody cares. This type of promotional campaign also causes pollution. The participants usually remove the posters and the city corporation helps too. But some are left like this and the streets also go full of paper waste.
However, I have to agree that the craze seems fun. Everyone gossips about who is going to win, about the strategy of their promotion and all. Mass people get involved with the campaigns directly. Parties are more like friends rather than rivals. That's what makes it enjoyable.
The day of the election was a holiday in the city. It was kind of a family day for many of us. People went to cast their votes early in the morning. People who are involved in the campaign or works for the member and parties were busy visiting the vote centers.
We cooked good meals at home, gossiping about the election and all at home, waiting for the results.
After the election result came out, there were huge rallies in every area of the town that won the election. They were distributing sweets among the people.
I really enjoyed the ambiance. I get to see a glimpse of the lifestyle of the people, get to meet many, and enjoy some family time on the holiday as well. I believe you get to experience the same through the photos.
Have a good day, everyone.
