Earlier today I was testing out some macro filming and took a cool shot of 's eye. Eyes always caught my attention, and I find every single one of them interesting. The reason is that they are completely unique and I like to believe that they inhabit people's personality treats. I have photographed a few years ago and I'm still working on to finish the artworks.
Pretty blue, pretty sharp. It was quite a challenge to have her iris in focus all the time while filming. I recorded the clip in 4k and SLOG2. Later, I resized it to Full HD so I could stabilize the shot in post edit and punch a bit more detail in it.
Correction
Color correcting the whole thing in Adobe After Effects is quite different than my usual workflow, and was a good challenge as I haven't touched After Effects for a long time. The color correction tools are pretty awesome, and post-processing it through the software just blew my mind. I tried to go for a clean and realistic color correction, which was pretty hard to do. Below you can find both clips of before and after post-processing.
It was a fun experiment. I'm not sure what I'm going to use it for, but I think I will use this shot in the future or put it on a stock site, or maybe both...
Photography
And of course, I took some photographs, which were a lot easier to take versus filming and having the iris in focus all the time. Below is my favorite. To get the same temperature and color grading of the clip was more difficult than I imagined, I have done this before (years ago when I was still in college), but both software calculates and measures the values of color differently.

If I had to choose between the grading, I'd go for the color grading I did in the video, as it seems to be more realistic than in the photograph. Which one do you like more?
Cheers,
