Last night I went to check the bike as I wanted to get up early for a ride. We are going through the hottest days of the year and it is too hot to be going uphill in the mountain with these temperatures. I like riding alone so that gives an additional point of risk to the ride.
When I checked I realized I had a flat tire so my plans had to change. My back tire is quite old and I decided to go to the store, get a new one, and change that besides the tube. It finally took me too much time and was too late to go for a ride as the temperature was above 32ºC.
So, after leaving the bike ready for next ride, I decided to go for a visit to one of the villages around. Vilafranca del Penedes. A city that is hometown of one of the oldest human tower groups in the country.
We walked in the tiny streets hit by the sun, took a nice breakfast in one of the shady squares, and spent some time visiting the farmers market taking place every Saturday.
As we were walking, we passed by a library which also sells small figures of all the popular human tower groups.
Seeing those figures brought hive to my mind, as this is a group project where everyone adds. Hive is quite new with only about 4 years of age, and human towers were created in the 18th century, but to me, the spirit is the same. Every user posting, curating, powering up, developing dApps or participating as a block producer or developer, or promoting the project to onboard new users keeps this project moving forward. Some may argue that it lacks user-friendliness or it is quite complicated for new ones but look at the towers, they are not easy, nor human friendly at all (especially when you fall down) but they have strong foundations to keep growing and those who join feel so proud, they do for generations.
