(A video from my Dads YouTube Channel, check him out!)
My grandpa use to call getting a hair cut "getting your ears lowered" .. man I miss him.
I removed 6 dreadlocks, 3 on each side just around my ears. I had a hair professional make clean part lines that were even on each side. Making the parts perfect meant pulling a bit of hair from remaining sections as well as leaving some loose hair from the removed sections. After the cut I faded in my beard and crocheted in the loose hair that remained from making a clean part line to the nearest dreadlock. This dreadhawk or taper only cut into the sides starting high on my temples and rounding/tapering to the back of my neck. I did not cut into the back of my neck line, but did edge up the back neck hairs for a clean feel and look. I may still take 2 more our one on each side of the back of my neck making my dreadhawk come more to a point in the back, but currently I like those 2 for tying my hair back. I may also take all lower dreads out keeping just the top mop, and eventually probably remove them all. My reason for doing this is ease and comfort. Less loose hair around my ears, and being able to edge up my hair line makes for a much cleaner look and feel. This helps me in sleeping, washing, drying, hats & up dos.
