Before we start to understand How does the light we need to understand what light basically is.
What is Light?
light is made up of small packets of energy called a photon. These photons are produced when an atom is in an excited state. Mean whenever an atom gets some sort of energy in form of heat they excite and thus light produce. Like FIre!
How Does Light Travel
Now we come to our main topic of how does light travel. Obviously, for traveling, we need a medium. But that doesn't apply to the light. Light is a form of energy that doesn't need any sort of medium to travel from one place to another. Light can pass through vacuum too! Nothing can travel faster than light. Light travels with an extremely high speed of 300,000KM per sec.
How Does Shadow Create
Light travel in a straight line and thus called rays. When these rays made contact with an object they bounce back and those rays which do not pass through in a straight line this leaves a shadow behind!
Reverse Image or Mirror Effect
When we see ourselves in the mirror it looks fine, but when we raise our left hand in the mirror our duplicate raise it's right hand. It's because when the light made contact to the mirror it reflects back int the same angle it made contact. This is the reason we see a reverse image in the mirror.
The angle of Reflection=Angle of Incidence
Phenomena of Laser Light
In laser light, we see that red light can travel through long distances. Which is due to the dense population of an electron in the middle stage. Laser light has 3 stages, natural excited and middle stage. Energy is provided to the electron which jumps to the excited state and after that, it comes to the middle stage and remains there for quite a time which increases the density of light and thus we see a thick wave of red light passing.
