From the corner captured
Stepped in front, the other left behind
after so many before gone, had tried.
Or so they said and so they claimed
and in the darkness spread their lies.
Rolled down to cheek the pain of salt,
along dusted roads of forks and knives.
Thinned by the blowing sands of time,
and coming to halt on the edge of life.
A collection of plenty thrown into sea
to be held and taken by the passing waves.
Each smiling boldly with gleaming teeth,
as the endless nexts take forever's place.
With darkness behind and light ahead,
the way clear to upon another's bed.
With desired lover asked under cover
A fantasy told that'll never hold true.
The expectation draws attention's gaze
and in the straight path a hidden maze.
A thousand choices and a million slices,
Demanding to be be the only one paid.
Walked paths of certainty toward promise
Staring into the provided blinding light,
So all to the sides are painted to be dark
with truth captured only by cornered eye.
