Hello Hivers!
I can’t believe I’m finally here. For that, I owe a massive shoutout to my ever-persistent friend, , who wouldn’t stop insisting I join this space. Trust me, it took some good pressure, but here I am, and I’m loving it already!
If there’s one thing I value in life, it’s having people who believe in you so much that they push you to be better, even when you’re dragging your feet. That’s the story behind how I landed here. And honestly, it says a lot about me too. Relationships are everything to me, and I thrive when surrounded by people who challenge and support me.
Let’s kick this off my introductory by saying I’m a bit of an all-rounder, someone who can do many things but still manages to surprise themselves. Let me explain:
I sing—but I’m not much of a music listener (yes, it’s as weird as it sounds).
I write—not as a paid pro, but enough to string my thoughts together and make sense of them.
I teach—give me a little prep time, and I can confidently explain almost anything. It just feels natural to me.
I speak well—public speaking, oratory, and conversations are my forte.
But here’s the fun twist: none of these talents pay my bills. Yep, they’re just hobbies. But stick with me, and I’ll explain what I really do.
My true passion lies in problem-solving, especially in the business world. It’s why I started my brand consultancy agency, Brands Alcove. Through this platform, I help businesses identify and tackle challenges, turning ideas into strategies that actually work.
After helping clients develop brilliant business plans, I often find them stuck with subpar graphic designs because they hired wack designers. Imagine building a mansion and then decorating it with... paper furniture. Painful, right?
So, I decided to step up and double as a graphic designer. Now, I am a senior designer at Brands Alcove who also coaches and has written his first book, BRAND FUSION, to ensure that our clients have not only great strategies but also matching visuals.
LET’S TALK ABOUT MY UNIVERSITY LIFE.
I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria.
Yep, engineering. But here’s the kicker: my day-to-day work has absolutely nothing to do with it. Life is funny like that.
While at FUOYE, I served as the prayer coordinator in my fellowship for two tenures.
And before you shout "Prayoo!" let me stop you right there. Yes, I’ve heard that nickname more times than I can count.) Juggling academics with leadership roles was no walk in the park, but I bless God for His strength.
After graduating, I began my NYSC journey, and let’s just say the surprises didn’t stop there. NYSC posted me to be the Executive Assistant to the Executive Assistant to the Governor of Bayelsa State on NYSC Matters.
Yep, you read that right: Executive Assistant squared. Was it related to my field of study? Absolutely not. But maybe they saw my knack for communication, stress management, teamwork, and diligence, or maybe they just liked my camp performance.
AH, CAMP LIFE. Let me be honest: it wasn’t exactly my vibe. The only part I truly enjoyed was the Man o’ War drills.
Beyond that, I spent most of my time indoors designing or organizing something.
Apparently, my efforts didn’t go unnoticed. A few months into my service year, I was declared the President of the Editorial Board.
This role came with plenty of responsibilities:
Supervising NYSC-related events.
Acting as the bridge between the scheme and corps members.
Curating content for newsletters, radio, and TV programs.
Even appearing as a guest on some shows (yes, my face is that camera-friendly).
At one point, someone joked that I probably wouldn’t be doing all this if I were in a relationship. The silence that followed? Priceless. Even I couldn’t argue with it. The truth is, I’m single, and... (Let your mind conclude)
SO, WHO AM I?
If you’re still reading, here’s the summary:
I love solving problems, whether it’s business challenges, designs, or anything else that comes my way.
I’m a graphic designer, brand consultant, and multitasker extraordinaire.
I’m someone who thrives on meaningful connections and loves to learn and grow.
Joining Hive is my way of expanding my horizons, connecting with brilliant minds, and sharing my journey. Thank you for reading, and I’m excited to meet and collaborate with you all.
By now, you ought to be curious about my name. I am from Nigeria, and my name is Posu Segun Victor (p.k.a-thesegunvictor).
P.S. If you ever need help solving a problem, I’m your guy. Just don’t ask me to fix your relationship issues. I’m still figuring it out myself.
