While there are over 50 car makers in the world, they are all controlled by a little around 14 car companies/corporations. These 14 car companies are presided over by board of directors who makes decisions which govern the corporation. Some, like the Hyundai Motor group are controlled by families with no ownership structure. Let's get into the most popular and surprising ones
Toyota motor corporation owns and control the Toyota car brand, the Lexus car brand, the Daihatsu car brand among other subsidiaries. Lexus is like the sportier version of Toyota, and both shares similar car parts and features.
While the Toyota has several brands/series that can be used as corporate vehicles, vehicles like the Camry, Prado, Land Cruiser, Avalon etc, Lexus has a more sportier lineup, talk about the Lexus IS series, RX series, LC series and my all time favorite, the magnificent Lexus LFA. The Daihatsu Minivan, known as Korope can be easily seen around. It is a Japanese company.
Up next is the Honda motor company. The Honda Motor Company owns and controls the Honda car brand and the Acura car brand. Like the Lexus and Toyota, Acura is the sportier Version of Honda.
According to Honda motor company, Acura is a dedicated luxury and performance division of Honda motors. Honda cars include the Accord, Civic, CR-V, Pilot etc and Acura cars include the TL, ZDX, MDX, TSX, etc. It is a Japanese owned company
The most surprising is the Volkswagen group of companies. They have the best and most expensive lineup. Volkswagen group of company owns and control the Lamborghini brand, the Porsche brand, the Bentley brand, the Bugatti brand, the Volkswagen brand, the Audi brand, the Skoda brand, even the Ducati motorcycle brand. Super car brands. WOWWW. It is a German owned company.
