Today I celebrate a special day in my life and the life of every African out there.

These are some interesting facts about Africa.

Africa is blessed with 54 countries.
Africa is the second-largest continent in the world both in size and population after Asia.
African continent is the world’s oldest populated area
Africa has the shortest coastline despite being the second largest continent in the world.
The continent is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Isthmus of Suez and the Red Sea to the northeast, the Indian Ocean to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.
Africa has approximately 30% of the earth’s remaining mineral resources.
Algeria is Africa's largest country by area, and Nigeria is its largest by population.
Around 2,000 different languages are spoken in Africa and each of them has different dialects while Arabic is the language that is most widely spoken in the African continent.
The largest desert in the world the Sahara desert is also situated in Africa and it spans across at least a dozen countries - around 3.5 million square miles.
Africa straddles the equator and encompasses numerous climate areas; it is the only continent to stretch from the northern temperate to southern temperate zones.
