Airplane Graveyard, Bangkok
Β
Yesterday in the early afternoon I finally managed to get to the old abandoned Airplane Graveyard in south east Bangkok. This location was on my list for quite a while now and I'm really stoked that I finally went there.
Β
If you don't mind the boiling heat in Bangkok (Yesterday closed to 40Β°C) and if you don't mind dogs, wild chicken, killer mosquitoes and potential snakes which live in the grass and airplanes - Give it a go when ever you are in Bangkok! Β π

History
Β
As far as I know this land is owned by a business man who purchased old airplanes to potentially sell some valuable parts. There are currently living a few Thai families which take care this ground.
If I compare my trip yesterday to some of the photos I found online I can tell that a lot of airplanes are already gone. Roughly 4 wrecked planes are left.

Β
How to get there?
- The easiest way to get to this location is taking a taxi from central Bangkok (35 min drive)
- The cheapest way is to take an eastbound boat (20 THB / 0.50$) to it's last stop "Wat Sriboonruang on Ramkamhaeng" - It will take roughly 50 mins on the boat and another 10 mins of walking.

How to get in?
Β
This is privat ground and no one is authorized to enter this graveyard. But - As mentioned above, there are a couple of families living who are live in a shed right to the gate which goes into the field. If you ask them they will charge you 200 TBH (6$) and you can walk around for 1 hour (I spend way more time there and no one complained). I would say that it's absolutely worth the money if you like "urban / abandoned" places.

The Airplane Graveyard
Β
Once you entered the yard you can see right upfront the big Boeing 747. There is a small door in the middle of the right side where you can sneak inside the airplane (Do it with caution - There are thousands of mosquitos inside)
Β
Β
If you sneak inside the door you will see a ladder which leads into the 1 floor of the airplane.

This time I was well prepared and I brought my Tripod and also my 10 Stop ND filter (Allows to shoot Long Exposure photos). All the pictures I took out- and inside of the airplane were captured with 10-15 second exposures. A prefect choice as I wanted to keep the ISO especially inside of the airplane as low as possible. - "Alright, enough technical details" π
Β
Once you've enjoyed the 1 floor you can also climb up to a second floor. There are stairs on the end of the big floor which bring you up to the captains floor. At this floor you can find the cockpit of the airplane.

I absolutely loved the "abandoned" flair inside of this huge airplane. Super cool vibes and also kind of a surreal feeling. The only thing which was pretty crazy was the extreme heat inside of the airplane. It felt way hotter inside compared to the 40Β°C outside. My clothes lasted probably 5-10 mins before they were soaking wet π
Β
Β
Outside on the field you can find 2 more airplane- parts. One bigger red airplane and another part from a Cessna (correct me if I'm wrong).

Β
As I said above - I can really recommend this abandoned airplane graveyard when every you are in Bangkok. It's definitely worth a visit!
Β
Thanks for joining this little virtual tour with me! π

Best,
Chris
