Drawing closer to the 14th day of February which has been set aside to celebrate valentine's day- a day where love is expectedly supposed to be celebrated. Although the word/act of love is special it has been misused, underrated and misunderstood by many.
But is love meant to be celebrated only on valentine's day?
Well, just like Christmas, valentine's day is set aside to celebrate the sacrifices for love which was made by an icon of love- St. Valentine.
I was opportuned to attend the wedding party of a friend, and when the couple had their first dance, the environment turned so emotional, with some persons shedding a few drops of tears. I don't know if it was the music but I'm sure the ambience was totally that of love.
Then came father and daughter dance, at this point my already cloudy eyes could no longer hold any more tears as it spilled almost ruining my makeup. What greater happiness is there than a father handing over his first daughter to a man who she's so much in love with. I knew this instant that love is underrated particularly the love in companionship and having a love partner.
Seeing people have their own language of love but this particular event got everybody seeing through the love the couple shared which was clearly genuine. People would say 'love is not perfect' but I say love is compatible, it is meant to cover the flaws of both parties, to radiate happiness and leave a sense of fulfillment.
On the said night, sitouts, restaurants, bars, hotels would be crowded, beds will squeak, gifts shops would sell out, some relationships might hit the rock while some would get an opportunity for a fresh start, others would lie in bed sleeping or soliloquizing but do we really understand and practice the message of love in which St. Valentine preached?
Love is special
Love is unique
Love is honourable
Love is priceless
Love is precious
And I look forward to spending the rest of my days in and with Love 😘
