I feels like everything I have been writing in the last week has been about the abundance of the snowfall here in the Netherlands. But that is also the current reality from a country that isn't used to having these kinds of weather conditions and this is so different that other years that it is also worth giving it the full attention.
And besides that, of course I am a big fan of all of all of it!
Even the simplest little ornament is a full blown snowy statue all of a sudden
So when the warnings started to come in during the Tuesday that Wednesday there would be a 'code orange' which means something like don't transport yourself to anywhere if it is not entirely necessary, heck I also put myself on pause.
Because...what else is there of an option to this?
Relax, sit back and enjoy the ride!
Disclaimer: this was only possible because I didn't have to work at a location. Otherwise I would have walked to work just to be sure
Double sweater, not too shabby
So I took out the laptop to work, put on two sweaters and started working at like 6 in the morning so there was more time during the day to walk around outside.
At the same time the news feeds were like pumping just all kinds of news about the snow which felt a little bit over the top.
But on the hand, this was such a situation controlling the whole country and making everything different...Well, maybe it is truly news worthy.
Normally these kinds of images come from Finland or somewhere Scandinavian, not in a place like here
Nearly every flight was cancelled in the whole country, trains were not going anymore and also the bus transportation came to a complete stop. Biking was the worst idea ever which is normally our go-to option. School were also closed because of this
I call that Everything on pause
Walking walking
And the walks have never taken so long on a such a small lap outside. There just wasn't an option to go any faster and of course mister doggo is just the most curious one ever to way with me.
Speaking of...Walking with a dog on the leash when it is slippery is kind of tricky so I needed to get to the woods asap so he could just run free.
This one was totally having the time of his life that is!
Speaking of...you could really see in these days that his fur is from a snowy mountain breed. I also saw a lot of poodles and labradoodles which have that curly fur and that is when snow balls tend to attach to the fur and you need to rinse it off with luke warm water.
Not with this Bernese Mountain dog. Just once of shaking himself out and he is clean and ready to head inside again. And that makes it super easy easy to take him outside tons of times per day. That one is truly living his best life.
Later on in the evening I ran into this one on a bench somewhere and I really had to laugh out loud. Someone let his creativity run entirely free. I had to think about a figure from Donald Duck for some reason, what about you?
Everything on this day was totally different from every other normal winter day here in the Netherlands and that is what I loved about it the most. This was something special, something different, something unique.
This will change over the weekend as it is changing already now, but still...We had the time of out lives!!
