Hello everyone and Welcome back to my participation in the Let's Make a Collage (LMAC) contest. This week's contest photo for a collage is an awesome image of a field on the edge of a city in a park. People are outside enjoying themselves. An idyllic scene that is soon to be transformed with my imagination for a collage.
The theme of collage is one person in the crowded park bearing witness to the end. He is effectively the "witness" and has been allowed to see and hear how his part in what is happening unfolds.
But first I have to share my thoughts on the transformed image sharing a short poem that came to mind as I was creating the collage.
THE WITNESS
A day without night.
A night without day.
The pungent smell of smoke.
The blinding sight of fire.
The feverish sense of strangulating air.
The ground parted, and the Beast emerged.
Pitch black form and red-hot eyes.
His armament not of this World.
They stood gazing upon the sights.
Drunk in their sybaritic delights.
No one believed.
Why should they?
The promise long overdue.
Their sufferance worn thin like faith
floundering, then leaking slowly through the sieve.
I saw; for I was one of them.
And I remembered this day foretold.
For it was written in a forgotten guide.
Aforetime discarded for cause of inconvenience.
Dread overtook me as I searched the skies.
An echo rose up in my memory from old.
Suddenly, their wailing drew me back.
Cries for help among the stench undeniably sobering.
I was once equipped with the tools to comfort.
But now I see the truth of my deception.
Quick, run to the mountains, hide amongst the hills
my lips parted to say.
Beseeching what must you do to be saved.
Yet I stood steadfast. Silent condemnation,
staring into the eyes of the Beast.
I fear; No. I know, the time has passed.
My presence here this day proof of my disbelief.
The Beast flung his weapon. The crowd no more.
My ears reverberated with the sound of his voice.
His claws pierced my heart as he spoke.
"You knew, and did not warn.
A special place like no other you've been rewarded."
Yes. I knew.
But I was disquieted. The wait was too long.
No blood spilled over, for I had rejected
that which was foretold.
My arms spread wide for the ultimate embrace.
I, the Witness.
A fleeting thought of the long-forgotten book.
My head hung low as I welcomed my fate.
To create this intense setting, I started with the photograph provided by in his contest post Let's Make a Collage - A Contest for All Creatives on Hive - Round 86 - ✨201 HIVE in the Prize Pool!

I located an intense background that depicts the Earth in flames and has fallen.

I then uploaded both the contest photo and my background image into Canva. I use Canva to create my collages. I purchased an Annual Pro Member Subscription. With it I have at my disposal premium images. Also, features are available such as background removal, resizing, and filters.
I utilized one of Canva's filters to apply a distressed, bleak look to the city and amusement park.
Finally, I added the following three images:

Below is the final result.
