Everyone as a kid loves holidays but then as we grew up, we started to understand that there is a special day all day and this days are just making a certain set of people richer. In case you haven't noticed, there are 100s of holidays and observings around the world from personal holidays like Birthdays, Naming Ceremonies, Weddings, Funerals, to public holidays and observings like Valentines day, Christmas, New Year celebration, Haloween, Boxing Day, World Men day, World Women Day, World Boss day, Saint Basil's Day, April Fools' Day, Autism Day, Earth Day, Saint George's Day, Anzac Day and many more.
I then ask myself, why do we have all this holidays and who innitiated them? Why do we have to celebrate these holidays and have so many breaks in a year and who benefits from all this break?
I am sure you must have heard about National Corn's day, Yes! Holidays actually favours thebig corporations that have some goods or services to sell. For shopping marts like Walmart, every day is a holiday and everyday is another dday to make good sales. if you are sure you want to make money as a corporation, you just need to join the capitalist club and purchase a holiday on National day calender.
Imagine going to the store on World corn day and seeing a corn on the shelve, the possibility of you buying the corn is very high because retailers are willing to use all days in the year to make money for themselves.
One holiday that thrills me the most is Cyber monday and Black friday. A day that people dedicate to get themselves things they do not need with the hope that they are buying them for cheap. This holiday is only favouring retailers and people with large business who are selling one service or the other.
I have just seen that holidays have been commercialized and we do not know because we are so concerned about the day that we do not see the way businesses make money with them.
