What is happiness?
The human being has always had to pursue happiness as a goal or an end, as an ideal and permanent state of well-being to be reached, however, it seems that happiness is made up of small moments, of details lived in the day-to-day, and perhaps its main characteristic is futility, its capacity to appear and disappear constantly throughout our lives.

Happiness, a concept with profound meanings, includes joy, as well as many other emotions, some of which are not necessarily positive (commitment, struggle, challenge, even pain). It is the motivation, the activity directed towards something, the desire for it, its pursuit, and not the achievement or satisfaction of desires, that produces the deepest feelings in people.
The term happiness, it is worth mentioning, comes from a Greek basis, which in a general way could be interpreted as a state of satisfaction, due to the very situation in the world. The concept of happiness is human and worldly. It was born in ancient Greece, when Thales of Milito stated that it is wise who has a healthy body, fortune and a well educated soul. Good health, good success in life and in one's own education, which are the elements of happiness, are inherent in the situation of man in the world.

Democritus, in a more or less analogous way, defined happiness as the measure of pleasure and the proportion of life, that is, as keeping away from every defect and excess. In any case, happiness and unhappiness belong to the soul, since the soul is the abode of our destiny. On the other hand, Plato denied that happiness consisted in pleasure and, instead, I consider it to be related to virtue. The happy are happy for the possession of justice and temperance, and the unhappy are unhappy for the possession of evil.
Where is happiness then? Happiness is not a future state, it is a possibility in the present, it is something that you have, that you simply have not observed and have not known how to experience, you have not learned to see it. It is a word that people have not yet learned in its correct meaning, it is generally thought that happiness is associated with a house, a car, health, love, the weather, economic welfare, many things, and by itself it is not understood, this is another of the great lies, happiness is independent of any object, anything, even spiritual, is a state of consciousness, is a time in the life of the individual, is a different way of feeling, a different way of seeing this, and see everything that really surrounds the happiness.
Otherwise, to what one might think, happiness does not necessarily come with material things, not even with spiritual ones; one is happy by means of a state of consciousness. So, let us not expect to find happiness in a future moment of our lives, nor let us expect to find it at the moment we manage to achieve this or that, happiness is in this moment, it has always been present and always within our possibilities.

Why look for happiness outside? All human beings aspire to reach happiness, but they always situate it beyond what they have in that moment, they see it as if it had something to reach, as if it was something that they had to fight for, as if it was something that arrived just in the moment in which they manage to do certain things, but this way of seeing happiness, in reality takes them away from it. Thinking that they are in an undetermined future, implies that this future will never be present, because it will always be beyond what the individual has achieved, however, happiness is present at all times around people and, even more, within them.
