Sales representatives always have a target that must be meet and meeting those targets does not come easy at all.

Some sales agent are usually too excited when they approach a prospect that they completely forget who they are, this attitude completely pisses off some clients. The next time you are to approach a client make sure you are yourself and get confident in your own skin, trying to act all weird just to please a client will only turn them off totally.
Trying to immediately tell your prospect about how good your idea is without understanding if it is what they need at the time will easy get them turned off, if you try to rather build a serious type of communication with them and understand the things they really need might make them buy into your idea even if it is not what they want at the moment, they know that you are really interested in their needs and they want to always do business with you, this is because a lot of people really love to talk about their ideas and goals.
Do not ever think that putting pressure on your clients is a good idea, there is no way you are going to pressurize an adult to give you their money or support even kids sometimes when they get pressured run away completely, persuading is what you need to do and not pressuring, they want to know what they have to gain when they do business with you and that exactly what you should be talking to them about.
Trying to understand your client all the time is a function that result to making good sales, when you understand your clients it will become easy to present your case to them targeting their area of interest with ease. Understanding the reason why your existing clients keep choosing you will help you stay glued to that pattern and not lose them, understanding what future prospects want also will help you to continue to satisfy them constantly.
Do not try to provide the solution to all problems, you are a sales agent for a particular brand or idea and not the solution for every issue, if what your clients need is not a solution you are able to offer then simply tell them you do not offer such service and if possible refer them to someone who is offering such service, when they want the type of service you are rendering, they will definitely call you for being sincere with them.
