I always tell my staff that it is good to leave a good legacy behind wherever you find yourself, there are people who leave certain organizations and just because they feel that they have no use for those organizations anymore, they break the walls which binds them to those organizations and promise never to look back.
I personally believe that we live in an extremely small world, a world where no one can possibly tell what is going to happen in the next minute or hour, a world where changes are bound to happen every time over and over again, so even if there is a reason to break off from a particular establishment, I strongly believe that such reasons should not result in leaving a bad reputation behind.
At some point I had a particular staff which to me seem to be the best I have had so far, I felt really sad when it was time for him to leave but then I had no other option than to let him go since the situation at hand was beyond me , he also cried the day he was leaving because he wished to stay back and continue to work with me but since there was nothing I could do to help him I only gave him some gifts and I wished him the best in his journey in life.
Right from the time he left, he called me severally to give me an update on the progress of his life and what he was doing at the moment and then we lost contact for some time and I was reminded of him this evening when he called to check up on me and the business, I realized once again that we do not need to bite each other or live a difficult life because life should be treated with a great level of simplicity.
I remember my place of youth service as well, despite the fact that my boss was not really a cool person, I just knew that I had to give in my best to the organization and when it was time for me to leave, my boss begged me to stay with them of which I politely refused because he had a character that was not too cool with me, few weeks back one of my Uncle wanted to start a business and he needed someone to guide him then I remembered that my former boss was good in this field so I called him up and even if he is a very difficult person, he still offered to help and I guess that was because I did not leave a bad reputation with the institution before I left.
So the point of this post is to admonish everyone either as a boss or an employee that it is mandatory for us to leave good footprints behind in the lives of others as well as the organization where we work also, the impact that we make in the lives of other people matters a lot.
