There are two ways by which people become successful; some were born as successful people while some were born to strive hard for success no matter how hard it is to be successful and no matter what it’ll cost them. To be successful, it requires a lot of sacrifices, hard-works, determination, dedication and a lot of right attitudes to work.
Success they say doesn’t happen in a day and it doesn’t occur naturally, but one needs to strive for it.
There are a lot factors that determine whether a person becomes successful or not. Imagine 2 students that are admitted into higher institution of learning; the first student coming from a poor family and the other student coming from a rich background.
The first student, due to the economical capability of his parent entered with a mission of becoming one of the best students in his department in order for him to graduate with a better result, get himself a good job and take his parent out of poverty.
The second student with a mission to show-off to the world he was from a wealthy family, enjoy the social parts of higher institution, if he finished with good results or not didn’t bother him because he knew that if he graduated, he is already an employee with his parents’ influences.
So, he showed a lot of lot of lackadaisical attitudes towards getting the best out of himself academically.
Moreover, the poor student judiciously made use of his time; he attended lectures on time, he attended tutorials and limited the time he used as leisure period. Even though he wasn’t the social type and he had no money to buy himself the latest wears, he wasn’t discouraged and tried to make the best use of what he had without being promiscuous and he gave his all towards attaining a great height in his academics.
After years of hard-work, dedication, determination, perseverance just to mention but a few, he graduated as being the overall best student and he was employed into one of the leading company in his hometown. Some years after he was employed, he became successful, he later owned a bigger firm and he became more successful and he lived a happy and a fulfilled life.
An adage says ” whatever the mind can conceive, the mind can achieve “. This means that no matter how hard it is to get something and no matter how difficult it is to be a successful and living a fulfilled life it’s the determination that matters a lot. A determined mind is a successful mind because it doesn’t care about the happenings around it, it focuses on what it is looking for and with time, if it continues to be a determined type, it’ll surely get what it wants better than a fragile mind.
Furthermore, here is a story of a man that owned a mini restaurant in the beginning, whose business was not growing when it was started. He invested a huge amount of money, time and effort but he kept on losing on a daily basis. It got to the extent that some of his friends advised him to stop the business and start another business but he insisted on having the restaurant. One of things he did was to ask from people around him the mistake(s) he was making that was causing a set-back in his business, he did a survey and realized some of the mistakes.
What did he then do?
He learnt from the mistakes, he tried to improve on it and after a while, his business became more and more profitable and later his restaurant became one of the A graded restaurant in his town. What if he had given up as at the time he was losing, what if he had taken the advice of his friends, what if he didn’t learn from his mistakes and tried to improve on it? But because he was determined, he knew where he was going and he was committed to getting the best out of himself, he became a successful business man.
Success comes with failure(s); to be successful, one may fail a couple of times but a determined person is he who learns from his failures and tries hard to improve well in his doings.
If a person makes a mistake today and he fails in his doings; if he keeps making the same mistake without an attempt to make correction(s) and looking for the root-cause(s) of the mistakes, work on it and improve well on it he will go nowhere but remain static like a faulty motor.
Be that as it may, if a determined person makes a mistake, searches for the reason(s) why he fails, work on it and tries to improve well on it without giving up, he becomes nothing but a successful individual.
Moreover, successful people were not made in a day, they’ve gone through a lot of trials and tribulations, they failed but they didn’t give up. For example, history has it that Prof.
Wole did a lot of WAEC exams and he did fail in the beginning. But because he was determined and he was committed to getting what he wanted as that time, he learnt from his mistakes, made a lot of corrections and improvements without giving up and now he is a prominent, an eminent, a scholar, an erudite, an intellect, a professor and a role model for the younger ones. What if he didn’t learn from his mistakes?
In a nutshell, Rome they say, was not built in a day, to be successful one needs to show commitment, hard-work, courage, dedication, right-attitudes to work and determination before a person can be successful in his pursuit for greatness. If a person is a determined individual, no matter what he goes through and no matter how life treats him, he’ll always be committed to doing great things and with enough hard-works, he can soar up as high as the sky. Though it is said that THE SKY IS YOUR LIMIT but to him, the sky will be nothing but the beginning of his greatness.
