Many people tend to undermine small scale businesses such as Chapatti making business, market vending businesses that includes selling of agricultural products such as tomatoes, green paper, onions etc. These small scale businesses are actually referred to as blue color jobs. People say that “such jobs are for the uneducated people.” It’s so unfortunate that society has been locked up in such a mind set for so long.
“Don't underestimate Small Humble Beginnings, because sometimes they can turn out to be the Greatest Success Stories.” Jeanette Coron Quote
Some people get disapproved and resort to changing their mindsets towards the small scale businesses after toiling and failing to acquire the white color jobs (office jobs). These are highly competed for by a huge number of graduates. People forget that the white color jobs are limited in number due to the high demand for them by the huge number of qualified persons with the degrees and the practical job experiences.
When I was going through school I had a vision and dream of becoming a pilot but as I kept on proceeding to high levels of learning such as at the university level, my dreams were altered by the challenges I encountered all the way in my studies. Coming to the practical working field is another story as you hustle to get a job in line with what you studied for while in school. You are eventually left with no other option but to venture in small businesses which are not bad as society had put it.
According to my working experience in the small scale businesses such as Chapatti making business, these are highly paying and can be grown up into huge large scale businesses if well managed. They need small capital start for example you can start a chapatti making business with just about $120 and yield returns of $15 every day. Isn’t that interesting?
Therefore a small scale business can be grown slowly to a very large and highly profitable business. Though it takes patience and a whole hearted dedication to it in order to realize the profits after building a good customer base for the business.
My academic sponsor shared with me his success story in line with business. He told me how he first began off with selling newspapers during his youthful time. He always did this small scale part time job in his free time while also attending school. This was very wise of him.
I believe the way to go in this competitive world is by venturing in the small scale businesses (informal sector) and not only focusing on the few highly demanded official jobs. This will scale down the high rate of unemployment problem in this world.
In conclusion, Small scale businesses are highly profitable and therefore there is a need to change our mindsets towards them by choosing to venture in them. This will eventually help our nations to develop by increasing on its GDP.
