Personally I am not a person that has favorite things. I really like some stuff but I can't decide if I like this more than that. I don't have a favorite song, I have favorite songs. I don't have favorite band, I have favorite bands. And so on.
Nevertheless, if I have to choose one singer it has to be Layne Staley. I have listened to a lot of music, trust me, a lot. And to be really honest, no one gave me that amount of chills on the spine and goosebumps he has. His voice was incredible, haunting. And I'm short of adjectives to describe it.
But, for those who doesn't know, who was he?
He was lead singer and co-songwriter for the grunge band Alice in Chains. With them, he released 3 studio albums, 3 EP and 1 MTV Unplugged. He was also part of the band Mad Season and released 1 studio album with them. But he was mostly known for being the lead singer of Alice in Chains.
Sadly, characteristic of the members of the grunge bands he fought a great part of his life against depression and addictions to drugs and alcohol. Those addictions eventually led him to his death at 34 year old.
But well, we have to remember him for who he was. He was really really talented and his voice is one of the best I've ever heard. Better than trying to describe how good his voice was, here's a video and you'll know of what I'm talking about.
If you liked that, then I recommend you to check Alice in Chains discography. You will not regret it.
