The well-known French artist David Hallyday called his new album "Imagine un monde". His texts call to imagine a better world, more humane, more supportive and respectful of nature. The artist described to RFI, that the album has been written during a special time, (health crisis and confinement) that "allowed him to think more about the whole world in which we live", and about "the best way to send positive waves is through culture, cinema and music".
Through his new album, David Hallyday seeks to "give an intense image of a better future, giving hope to the population living in misery, and to give a grain of sand to improve things", as he explained, for him there are "many things that could be modified on this planet that proved to be fallible" such as "reinforcing animal or environmental defense".
David Halliday, a romantic artist who raises his voice
"Romanticism and love are part of my life and are important", asserted Hallyday, even if he considers that "we are finally coming out of a social system of organization", a balance that must be denounced. After having had to postpone his tour to promote the album "imagine un monde", thanks to the health crisis, David Hallyday is concerned about the case of "the workers of the song and culture sector in general who were damaged by the health crisis" with the closure of concert halls, bookstores and the cancellations of tours and festivals.despite having written an album for social meditation, the French artist confirms that he is still "a little romantic, because one must be.
The eighties a limitless inspiration
In the album "Imagine un Monde", he recalls at certain points the 80's, a time he says he adores for being "the period of his youth and for the sonorities that remain". For this reason, he has included analog synthesizers (Junos, Moogs) that give the album an "eighties" look. However, he does not want to classify the album in a defined musical style, because for him the melodies and rhythms were made "on the fly and without planning". The main thing for David Halliday is that the result has a musical coherence, even if it is a rather "spontaneous and unconscious" mix.
