Blues music done well can touch your soul.
Wasted Sunsets is such a track for me.
The guitar work is superb and the vocals delivered by Ian Gillan are expressed sorrowfully with just the right notes of anguish, frustration and sorrow.
When I was younger, so much younger than today as another song goes, I wore this song like a badge. It really seemed to express where I was emotionally and socially.
Chapter 6, in my Book Postcards From Hell explores these themes in detail. Its all there, disillusionment, self imposed loneliness, borderline alcoholism, hedonistic behavior and the dawning realization that life itself was passing me by.
This song got a hell of a workout on my stereo and in my car during those times. I still get goosebumps when I hear it.
It isn't a well known song by any means but I regard it a one of the all time classics.
Have a listen - if the guitar doesn't touch you, you're not human. The YouTube video selected is the one that goes closest to expressing the despair I felt way back then.
