Nine years ago I started pub music session in Arlesey. We now have a bunch of dedicated people of various levels who keep making this fun. Naturally performance options have been limited this year. Some of us have done some busking. We have also had some outdoor jam sessions and managed an open mic recently. Someone suggested we collaborate on a version of The Pogues' Christmas song and this is the result. This is just a bit of fun, so do not expect professional results.
The project was put together by my musical partner Danielle from . Tracks were collected in Google Drive and she used Audacity to mix them. Some people are not experienced at recording and so there were some challenges with this. I did a couple of guitar tracks using Ardour that are in the background.
Danielle also produced this fun video with clips from earlier open mics. I think it is mostly from Christmas last year.
I really hope we can get back to playing in pubs next year, but we will do some sort of music making whatever happens. Technology allows for various options, but live jamming over the internet is still not so easy to do.
I hope everyone has a good Christmas. Where we are the latest rules mean we cannot have family over, but we will stay in touch anyway. I wonder if Zoom and other services will cope with demand.
Ho ho ho!
